One Tarot Birth Card

The simplest way to determine one overarching tarot birth card is to add each number of your birth date together to reach a sum of 22 or lower.

Let’s say you’re date of birth is March 16, 1985.

First, write everything out in numbers – 3/16/1985. And then break it up into each number to add them together. For this example, you would have 3, 1, 6, 1, 9, 8, and 5.

Next, add your numbers together to come up with one number. Here you have 3 + 1 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 33. But 33 is larger than 22, so you must break it down more. Add 3 + 3 to come up with your life path number of 6, and you know your tarot birth card is The Lovers.

Two Birth Cards

This method is very similar to the first. It still uses your birth date, but it breaks the numbers down slightly to find two cards instead of one.

Using the date of March 16, 1985, you will write your birthday in a MM + DD + YY + YY format. That would give you 03 + 16 + 19 + 85 = 123.

If you end up with a double number, you would add the two digits together to get your first birth card. In this example, you have a three-digit number to add the first two numbers to the third like this – 12 + 3 = 15. The number 15 would be your first life path number.

Your first tarot birth card is number 15 – The Devil.

To determine your second birth card, add the numbers of your first card to get 1 + 5 = 6. Number 6 would be your second life path number.

That means your second card is The Lovers.

If your first birth card is a single-digit number, you can determine what two numbers add to make that number find your second card. So if your first card is Strength with the number 8, you can reduce the number 8 to = 1 + 7 or The Star at number 17.

If your sum is two digits, you add the numbers of your personality card together to determine your soul card. Someone with The Hanged Man (12) as their personality card would have The Empress (3) as their soul card.

Since our example is a single-digit, the two cards are The Lovers.

How Many Birth Cards Can You Have?

Due to the limited number of major arcana, most people will only have two birth cards.

The one exception to this rule is anyone with the number 19. They can reduce their number more than once, resulting in three tarot birth cards.
